I remembered The Chequers Hotel from my childhood in Newbury 30 years ago, so booked here for a recent visit. It did not disappoint! The room was lovely, a nice size and very clean. Facilities were good and of a high standard. Buffet breakfast was nicely presented and fresh. The perfect place to stay for my trip down memory lane! Thank you.

I visited the hotel with others for a lunchtime meal and afternoon function. I certainly had no complaints about the standard of the meal and service we received by the hotel staff, it all ran like clockwork. Well done. I also thought the cleanliness of the hotel was very good, the carpets leading to the toilets however were a little grubby. If I were too stay overnight in Newbury then it would be at the Chequers.

Nice main building where the reception and restaurant is, but our family room was tired decor and awful access for even a lightweight push chair. Need a safer place for a kettle, especially in a family room! Staff very friendly and attentive at breakfast, couldn't fault them at all!

This hotel has a great location, it is located in City Center. So you will find plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops. My room was small but has cosy feeling. I think, the interior of rooms can be improved as they feel a bit dated. I had issue with slow internet during my visit, it could be the location of my room. The staff was also quite nice, The room was little expensive but it depends on the season or any event. I was visiting Newbury on some even and so it was not easy to find a room in Newbury. The breakfast was nice and quite filling. I can recommend this hotel given its excellent location, breakfast and cordial staff.

My wife booked us an overnight stay in the deluxe suite as part of my birthday celebration. The staff (a birthday card was a really nice personal touch) , food (we had the cooked breakfast), gardens and the rooms themselves were all top notch. The only issue we had was the shower; it was very difficult to set a constant temperature, and veered from scalding hot to cold in a nano-second. Apart from that, highly recommended.
